If I want to start an online business, what are some ways I can charge the customers by debit/credit card? Thanks!

Depends on the type of online business you want to do.

1. If you want to provide a service the same way say eBay, amazon is doing then you can use payment processors such as:
PayPal
Moneybookers
Nochex
PPPay
etc, to collect payments online. it’s easy, instant too. The payment processors I mentioned above usually come built in when you buy the auction/classifieds php software.

2. If you want to set up an online store selling products, you’ll need to buy a shopping cart which would already have built in payment processors to collect debit/credit card payments.
