Social Media Optimization for an upcoming health information based website?
We are on the verge of launching a website that will provide quality information on various diseases and alternate remedies available for them. The content is professionally written and unique.
As the marketing budget is a little tight right now, we are unable to decide on 2 fronts
1) We go for outsourcing SEO services or SMO services. (Actually, we will be interested in knowing if SMO will be of any help with regards to the content (health, diseases based) on our website) or SEO is the way to go, OR
2) Should we outsource SEO (If that has to be outsourced as none of us have an experience in that) and do the SMO ourselves by getting as much information on it as possible. We don’t know much about SMO either, except for a little bit knowledge of how a facebook or squidoo works.
Thanks
Thanx Caroline
We will be selling products…actually dropshipping someone elses…a whole gammut of them

BTW I thought SMO is quicker in getting results than SEO
Hi there,
If this is a new website there are lots of things you can do yourselves to get visitors to your site quickly and cheaply.
Your site should have had SEO capabilities built into it (did you do this yourself?). I’d say that SMO will take longer to generate visitors so I would concentrate on SEO.
A lot of companies will actually do SEO on a per results basis – see if you can get a company to agree to this. Those customers should be converting into revenue for you, so you will be able to pay the SEO bill!!
What is the actual revenue stream though? It doesn’t sound like you are selling anything, simply trying to build traffic?

Caroline:
First, congrats and good luck with your launch. I hope it goes smoothly.
As for your question, my firm wrote a (free) report for prospects just like you entitled entitled SEO & Internet Marketing 101: An SEO / Online Marketing Tutorial for Those New to Internet Marketing.
This online marketing tutorial will give you insight into what SEO is all about, how search engines work, which internet marketing methods work for all businesses — and more. It takes the guesswork out of internet marketing.
Of course, it’s free and you can get it from a link on the home page of NewMediaWords.biz, or by clicking on the "Free SEO Tools" link.
FYI, it’s a pdf file.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
Sincerely,

hello cashew,
well personally i think that you should outsource your SEO services rather than SMO, that is because SEO is much better in increasing web traffic and it is better if you have some professionals working on it, if you are low on budget then to you an ask for services from some pros, i would recommend that you go for the people at inka technology. They are great at their work and also are feasible in terms of costing. You can visit them at http://www.inkatechnology.co.uk

There are many place to advertise, explore the Internet and put your ads on as many places – paid or free. Social Media is NOT out of planet, it uses all existing on-line platforms. Learn about SEO on sites like google.com, seomoz.org, seotrends.in, etc.. Analyse your own skills to decide whether you can outsource or do it yourself. Good luck!
